Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron and Wine

The movie's not exactly my cup of tea or slice of cake, but some of the songs on the movie deserve some applause. This song's just so beautiful. It definitely deserves a good listen.

I was a quick wet boy
Diving too deep for coins
All of your street light eyes
Wide on my plastic toys
And when the cops closed the fair
I cut my long baby hair
Stole me a dog-eared map
And called for you everywhere

Have I found you?
Flightless bird, jealous, weeping
Or lost you?
American mouth
Big pill looming

Now I'm a fat house cat
Cursing my sore blunt tongue
Watching the warm poison rats
Curl through the wide fence cracks
Pissing on magazine photos
Those fishing lures thrown in the cold and clean
Blood of Christ mountain stream

Have I found you?
Flightless bird, grounded, bleeding
Or lost you?
American mouth
Big pill, stuck going down

The song's about the loss of the American Dream. Which I don't really know about since I've been Malaysian my whole life, but I kinda get the idea of losing hope in something you've been dreaming a very long while for.

Bad song choice for Twilight's prom scene. -_- Sigh. But who am I to say really? Without the movie I wouldn't have known about the song. Folk music isn't really my favorite genre.
